RT may be the way to go

I don't know anything about the app and what it's supposed to do, but pasting tons of text from a Word doc into a dialog box just sounds like a bad idea. Why can't you make that a RT field and just let the user type into that field and skip Word totally?
As an alternative, why not just attach the Word doc and call it a day?

I'm sure there are reasons for what you're doing but sometimes it's good to take a step back and re-look at the design.
